The Local Network Fund for Children & Young People

The Government's every child matter's strategy aims to improve outcomes for all children & young people.

The government believes that communities can make a real difference to improving opportunities for children & young people.

The Local Network Fund for children & young people (LNF) is a programme of the Department for Education & Skills.

The object of the Fund is to enable communities to develop projects & activities for children and young people with limited opportunities or access to services that many young people take for granted.

The LNF is delivered by the voluntary sector. It is located within the community so that it can respond quickly to local needs.

The five Every Child Matter's outcomes are:

• Being Healthy
• Staying Safe
• Enjoying and Achieving
• Making a Contribution
• Achieving Economic Wellbeing

Dover Gymnastics Club has met the relevant criteria to apply for grant funding from the LNF and is very thankful to have received three separate Grants for equipment between 2004-2007.

The latest grant from the Local Network Fund for £6,486 has paid for much needed new equipment such as safety landing modules and a new vault.

Some of the equipment replaced was more than 20 years old, having been used since the days when the gym club was based at the Salvation Army building in High Street, Dover.

We are grateful to the Local Network Fund for making this possible and gymnasts from our recreational classes and competition squads are making good use of the equipment as the photos below show.
