Listen to Heart FM interview with Gary by pressing play below:
One of our young gymnasts and volunteer coaches from Dover Gymnastics Club is set to star on big screens across the country.
Rebecca, known to everyone as 'Gary', was selected to take part in a special filming project to mark the countdown to the London Olympics in 2012.
Young people involved in sport are being filmed for 90 second interviews focusing on their ambitions over the next 1000 days, as 31 October marks the 1000 day countdown to the 2012 games.
The interviews will then be shown on big screens across the country, including the one in Dover's Market Square.
Rebecca is a Young Ambassador for the Dover District School Sport Partnership (SSP) and was selected by her SSP co-ordinator John Castle as the natural choice for the film.
Rebecca has been a member of Dover Gymnastics Club for nearly 10 years and still trains with her squad up to 8 hours a week to take part in competitions.
Rebecca started coaching younger gymnasts when she was just 13 and is working towards becoming a fully qualified coach as she explains: "I have some brilliant older coaches to look up at Dover Gym Club and my ambition is to develop my skills and carry on coaching. I would eventually like to become a Physiotherapist.
"I love helping the younger children and seeing them progress from beginners into confident gymnasts and really enjoying their sport. I find volunteering very rewarding." She added.
John Castle (pictured above left), Dover District School Sport co-ordinator said: "Rebecca is a great Sports Ambassador for both her school and for the Dover District and a role model for young people.
"She is a mature young leader and totally dedicated to helping others through the many hours of volunteering she puts in every week." He added.
