Summer Camp 2010 - another success story
Young gymnasts from as far away as Dubai headed to Dover Gym Club's Summer Camp recently to improve their gymnastic skills and have fun at the same time.
This is the fifth year in a row that the club has run its own successful week-long Summer Camp with 30 gymnasts taking part on a daily basis.
The majority of those taking part were squad gymnasts from Dover, but one girl was from Dubai and spends her summer holidays in Kent. Youngsters from Thanet and Faversham Gymnastics Clubs also took part.
The sessions were led by Dover Gym Club's team of qualified coaches over five full days which culminated with parents coming into the gym on the final afternoon to watch what their children had achieved and improved upon throughout the week.
There was also a presentation ceremony on the final day with gymnasts being awarded for attendance, hard work and outstanding achievements.
All gymnasts were given a personalised T shirt and received a participation certificate.
Coach Fern Parnell said: "This has been another hugely successful and enjoyable Summer Camp and it was great to welcome gymnasts from other clubs who visited us.
"I'm also proud of the gymnasts' achievements as they have learned new skills and new moves and had lots of fun at the same time. Their newly acquired skills will come in very handy when the competition season starts again in the autumn.
"I would like to thank all of our coaches and volunteers for the time and effort they all put into making this year's Summer Camp such a great success!"
