New Membership Process
Did you know that joining our club includes becoming a member of British Gymnastics, the national governing body for gymnastics in the UK? Until this year we have sent members’ details such as names, ages and addresses to British Gymnastics to allow them to activate personal member benefits for you, such as insurance and discounts, and to send out your membership pack.
From October 2017, to comply with new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we will no longer be able to pass on these personal details to British Gymnastics. We are therefore asking all members (or your parent/guardian if you are under 16 years old) to renew your British Gymnastics membership directly through the British Gymnastics website.
A new membership process – here’s how it works
In line with the changes at British Gymnastics, we will also be changing how we take your membership. To make the process more efficient we are moving away from paper membership forms and moving this online. Registering with the club will now need to be done by visiting the BECOME A MEMBER page and following the information on screen. If you have trouble filling out the form speak to a member of the coaching team or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Once you have completed this form you need to make the membership fee payment shown in the usual way via BACS payment to DGC.
After registering with the club and paying us your combined club and British Gymnastics membership fee, you (or your parent or guardian) will need to go to the British Gymnastics website to complete the new membership or renewal process.
This process creates your vital insurance cover. Until that registration process is completed on the British Gymnastics website you will not be able to attend our classes.
The registration system on the British Gymnastics website is quick and easy to use by mobile phone, tablet, computer or laptop. You won’t need to pay anything extra.
British Gymnastics will activate your membership and insurance cover immediately as well as sending your membership con rmation and bene ts information by both post and email.
British Gymnastics will notify us when you have completed your registration.
All club members need to become members of British Gymnastics, the national governing body for gymnastics in the UK. This is to benefit from insurance cover as well as receive discounts and other member benefits.
The British Gymnastics membership process has changed recently and you’ll need to register directly via the British Gymnastics website. Unfortunately, until this step is complete, you will not be able to attend gymnastics sessions, so please complete the process as soon as you can.
What you need to know
To help you complete the process, please note the following information:
- You’ll need to be at least 16 years old. If not, please ask a parent or guardian to complete the process on your behalf.
- Whoever completes the process will need a personal and secure email address to create the account and for essential member correspondence.
- You’ll also need this lea et as it contains some speci c details about the type of membership you need, which your club has provided over the next few pages.
- The British Gymnastics online membership system enables a parent/guardian to create one account which covers multiple members. Additional members can be added by selecting ‘Add Child’. This will mean parents/guardians (including those who coach or carry out a club role) can create multiple British Gymnastics memberships in a swift and e cient way.
How to complete your British Gymnastics membership
Please visit HERE. It’s quick and easy to do on smartphones and on tablets, or you may prefer to use a computer.
To complete the process, we’ll ask you to enter some personal details to create your member account, such as name, date of birth and home address of the member. If you have previously been a member of British Gymnastics, we may already have some information on file which we will ask you to con rm to speed up the process.
As well as providing personal information, you’ll also need to confirm the name of your gymnastics club. This is required in all cases, regardless of whether you are renewing your British Gymnastics membership or becoming a member for the first time.
The British Gymnastics membership system should recognise the type of membership you need based on the information you fill in during the process and display this to you. However, please do check with the club if you are unsure. If it doesn’t, don’t worry, you’ll be able to change it.
Your membership fee will still need to be paid by BACS transfer in the usual way to Dover Gymnastics Club.
